Accessories are something I find ridiculously hard to resist when shopping, especially necklaces because they always seem to fit. Choosing the wrong necklace for the neckline you’re wearing can create an unfortunate cluttered look. Here are a few tips to consider when choosing out the appropriate type of necklace to wear with specific necklines.

Strapless or scoop neckline - These particular necklines show a lot of skin, leaving you with a ton of options when it comes to accessorizing. Go for a mid length necklace with a statement charm or pendant. Show off your gorgeous collar bone or put the attention on a low-cut back with a backdrop necklace.

V-neckline – Known as the most universally flattering neckline, the V-neckline elongates and looks great with a necklace that mimics the shape of the V such as a pendant style necklace. The length of your necklace is dependent on the depth of the V, you wouldn’t want your necklace falling into to V but either hanging below the V or sitting nicely above the V.

Turtleneck neckline – A turtle neck creates the perfect canvas to showoff a great statement necklace. Liven up your turtleneck with either a short, chunky necklace or a longer one.

Collared shirt or button up shirt – Depending on the look you are going for, you may choose to be more professional, formal or casual and relaxed. You could leave a couple of buttons open and show off a great chain or choker necklace or wear a longer, layered necklace over the shirt. For the ultimate formal look, pair a done-up button up shirt with a classic string of pearls.

For the ladies with a fuller bust, opt for chunkier necklaces to balance proportions and take some attention away from the bust. However, layered and multiple chain necklaces never quite lie properly on the girls blessed with a bust so that style is better for someone with a more modest sized chest.
